Second Senator

["Second" isn't a title or a part of Second Senator's name, it's just how he's designated in a scene in which other senators are present.]

As the Duke of Venice and his senators are trying to make sense of the various reports about the Turkish threat to Cyprus, First Senator says that he has letters saying that there are 107 ships, but the Duke replies that his report says 140 ships, and Second Senator exclaims, "And mine, two hundred!"(1.3.4). Second Senator goes on to say that it is certain that the Turks have designs on Cyprus. This is his only speech in the scene and his only appearance in the play. [Scene Summary]
